I hope you are safe and well. It’s been a while since we’ve stayed in touch, and it warms my heart to be able to reconnect with you again. One of our values at Happy Bunch is to keep conversations open and transparent, regardless of the good or bad, and it is important for me to share with you sincerely what we have to share with you today.
Our mantra at Happy Bunch has always been about making it simple and affordable for anyone to send thoughtful gifts to people in your life. Over the years, we have expanded our business from being just about flowers to gift boxes as well. Gifting is so much more than flowers. Having said that, there’s something magical about flowers. When you walk into a room filled with flowers, your mood changes and lightens up. Maybe because it’s a living thing too.
We want to continue to make gifting flowers easy and affordable for you. With the pandemic, flower farmers throughout the world struggled to keep these living beauties alive and fresh. But as some of you might be aware, so much was destroyed, especially at the very beginning of the pandemic. While these farmers had the opportunity to regrow the flowers, they’ve also had to recoup great losses, which has led to a significant increase in prices throughout the last one and half years. In addition to that, transportation costs have more than quadrupled and the cost of our packaging, like burlap, have increased as well.
As much as we’d like to maintain the prices of our bunches, unfortunately, we are unable to absorb these cost increments anymore. So it is with an extremely heavy heart that effective 11 October 2021, there will be an RM10 increase to some of our bunches. We still want to make sure you can send a gift at affordable prices and will continue to have some bunches starting at RM49. Rest assured, we will make sure that you will continue to experience quality products from us.
We want to be a sustainable business that can be around for the next 10 years and more. That means, sometimes we have to make difficult and unfavourable decisions such as a price increase. We hope for your understanding. Our margins have never been big. That’s why our prices have been so affordable because we truly believe that gifting shouldn’t be just for special occasions but for those everyday moments.
