When I sat down to write this note, I didn’t want to dwell about the past year. Honestly, I just wanted to pack up 2020 into a box, ship it off into oblivion, and talk about all the great possibilities in 2021. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way. But… Despite all the obstacles and hurdles thrown in front of us, there have been many silver linings in 2020. And I strongly believe it is because we’ve had each other to lean on.
I recently learned a new word, Ubuntu, (originates from South Africa) which means “I am, because we are“. It is the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all of humanity. We are who we are because of the people around us; how we are all connected in some way as our actions impact another person, and their actions impact others and so forth.
At Happy Bunch, we have you – our ever faithful customers. Your continuous support has given us so much hope and drive to deliver happiness on your behalf. We also have our partners, who have generously extended their patience and kindness to us as we continue to channel business to them. Within Happy Bunch, our teams have leaned on each other and become a pillar of strength for another.
At home, I had my husband, children, helper, parents, sisters and closest friends who have given their unconditional support, love and care. We had to be there for each other as each had our own struggles. I’ve come to treasure every one of them now more than ever.
It is this huge silver lining, that fills me with hope, faith and belief as we enter 2021.
• 𝓗𝓸𝓹𝓮 that most would be kinder, more understanding and generous. That judgement and words of division will be parked at the door.
• 𝓕𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓱 that our health, sanity and environment will be restored as the world takes on COVID-19 or as we adapt to new norms to keep us safe.
• 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓮𝓿𝓮 that each one of us can be someone for our nearest and dearest, where a simple “How are you?” , “I’m thinking of you” or a super long endearing hug, could make a difference in someone’s day.
Each day our belief in bringing people closer together through simple, thoughtful and affordable gifts grows stronger and stronger. We know gifting is an expression of how you feel and a gesture stemmed from your thoughts. Our aim is to make it incredibly easy for you to do so without creating a hole in your pocket. Meanwhile, we just want to say thank you for your trust in us to be your conduit. To deliver smiles, happiness, encouragement and comfort, to all of your beloved family, friends, loved ones, business partners, team members and many others – even when you’re apart.
We are, because of you. And we know you are, because of someone else or because of a community. We hope in 2021, we can continue to be there for the people around us, express that unconditional support and love with simple gestures. We’ll be here to help you – be your messenger, be your cupid, be your postman, be your yellow brick road.
